PDRN explained

PDRN stands for Polydeoxyribonucleotide and consists of purified DNA fragments that support the body’s natural repair and renewal processes. It was originally used in medical and aesthetic treatments to help support tissue recovery and skin regeneration.

Traditional PDRN is usually derived from salmon DNA, which is carefully purified before use. Vegan alternatives, often called Phyto PDRN, are also available and can be sourced from plants such as ginseng, rice or green tea. Today, PDRN is used in professional treatments as well as skincare, body care and hair care products.

PDRN supports the skin’s natural renewal process, helping it recover from dryness, irritation and everyday environmental stress. It improves moisture retention and supports a stronger skin barrier, leaving the skin feeling more hydrated, comfortable and resilient. With consistent use, PDRN can also help improve elasticity, soften the appearance of fine lines and give dull or tired skin a smoother, firmer and more radiant appearance.

PDRN is a versatile ingredient that can generally be used every day, both in the morning and evening. It is available in many different products, including toners, serums, ampoules, creams, masks and mists, making it easy to add to almost any step of your skincare routine. Apply the products from the lightest to the richest texture and always finish your morning routine with sunscreen.

PDRN is not only used in facial skincare. You can also find it in body care products that help hydrate and support dry or weakened skin, as well as hair care products designed to care for the scalp and support healthier looking hair. How often you use it depends on the specific product, so always follow the directions on the packaging.

PDRN can be combined with most skincare ingredients and is easy to add to an existing routine. It works especially well with hydrating and soothing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, Centella Asiatica, ceramides and panthenol to support hydration and strengthen the skin barrier.

You can also combine PDRN with active ingredients such as niacinamide, vitamin C, retinol, retinal and exfoliating acids. PDRN can help keep the skin hydrated and comfortable alongside these stronger ingredients. If you have sensitive skin or are introducing a new active ingredient, build up your use gradually and avoid starting several new products at the same time.

PDRN is generally suitable for all skin types, including dry, oily, combination and sensitive skin. It is especially beneficial for skin that feels dehydrated, dull, weakened or less firm, as it helps support hydration, elasticity and the skin barrier.

The best PDRN product depends on your skin type. Lightweight toners, mists and serums are ideal for oily or combination skin, while richer creams and masks provide extra nourishment for dry or mature skin. If you have very sensitive skin, check the complete ingredient list and introduce the product gradually.
